Does Drupal offer any advantages over Dreamweaver? Is Drupal web based or does it reside on your computer like Dreamweaver?

Hi PJ, I took a few minutes this morning to check out the site you have listed on your profile. GoDaddy's Website Tonight is a very basic hosted CMS. The difference with WordPress, Drupal, Joomla and other popular open source CMSs is that they have large communities supporting the products and offering extensions to their functionality. – Ben Robbins Mar 2 at 13:39

Drupal and many other open source Content Management Systems (CMS) can be installed on your web host, after which they will allow you to add content and modify the look and feel of your site without requiring you to buy any additional software. A good CMS does much of the hard work of linking pages, building menus and formatting content for you.

Dreamweaver is a tool that allows you to build static pages, format them and link them together manually. Unless you are an expert, I don't recommend this (I am an expert, and I still don't do it).

Of the various CMS available for free, Drupal probably requires the most advanced skill set. I recommend looking into WordPress. It's the easiest for beginners, and offers the most "out of the box" capabilities. Some hosting companies will even install it for you for free. Many of the most popular sites on the web run on WordPress. http://wordpress.org/
