The SEOmoz Marketplace was a great place for people to list their services and find potential vendors, but it died a slow and painful death.
SEOmoz suggested the replacement could be their LinkedIn group - yes, but only for a fraction of the inbound marketing market (SEO), and for those who happened to be in the LinkedIn group (just over 12,000 at the time of writing).
I'm suggesting Inbound.org offers an alternative for the wider inbound marketing market, similar to what Sortfolio and Folyo does for designers. This would be a product targeting agencies and freelancers. It might have quite a lot of overlap with the jobs board, especially if we open that up to freelance and guest blog postings etc.
Similar to Sortfolio, I'm envisaging a free and premium listing so everyone can participate how they like. However, to "earn" the fee plan or gain discounts on the premium listing, you'll have to complete XX% of your profile. Not only will this drive out spammers, but it'll drive the overall quality of the listings up, which in turn will increase it's value. We want to make our agencies and freelancers look exceptional. Regressive pricing might be a smart way to do that :)
We could tag every listing by location, minimum project/contract size, types of tasks and endorsements.
