..but I bet it will be.
And I'm doing it to prove a point. What the hell is with all these irrelevant, uninteresting posts making it to the front page of inbound?Raj Shah made a comment that I agree with: I come to this place to learn and to compare my view on SEO and internet marketing with views of others. I don't spend hours here. Inside jokes shouldn't rank on the home page, especially not #1 which it currently is.
Then we have some articles that make it to the front page with just 3 votes. Now I like that this allows new content to get a chance, but what happens if it sucks or is interesting only to a few people?
Does inbound need a vote down?
Guess this is where we fundamentally disagree, as I come to inbound to get rich discussion on a number of topics, where some extremely talented and experienced SEOs congregate together.
Although I feel a pang of guilt that the title has started some sort of bad meme.
Rand noted a while back that the flag button acted as the "downvote." I've only used it on outright spam but if a discussion is particularly distasteful to you, you could flag it.
I think 'flag' gives the impression that it's spam and shouldn't exist on this site at all. I think adding a downvote would be appropriate as it, theoretically, wouldn't say the person is deliberately spamming the site, just that the article isn't that great. Would be discouraging to see your article hit negatives though...
The only thing which seems to get any traction on these discussion threads is about inbound itself
Yep seems so right?
In my eyes their are too many "questions" on inbound's home page now, I have recently shared some really nice articles but they never seem to make page 1 as its flooded with questions, if I wanted endless questions I would go to Quora lol...or split the questions onto a separate page...Oh well its not my sites ;)
Funny part is how much folks here wanted the ability to post "ask" threads like this when it wasn't available :-) I think this is just part of the healthy balance that all communities have as they grow.
The vocal minority
Yeah its hard to keep every one happy, could work with articles and questions in split sections, but yeah some questions on here are great =) just some questions seem to be random rants lol
lol.. It's kinda like hacker news, if it doesn't make it in the first 30mins its kinda not gonna make it at all.
