SEO in 2012 was tough; I made blunders, fell many times, and succeeded at few in all I learned a lot from the past year. I met many new folks and made friends in the industry, I also started my own blog and service that is certainly keeping me busy all day long and is even giving me some sleepless nights...
One thing that was very clear since the start of 2012 was the fact that the SEO community is really awesome and ever helpful... just ask a question on twitter and you will get a reply from some of the most respectable SEOs in the world.
This discussion is more like a “Thank You” post to all the SEO brains that have been helping others in shaping their careers or at least guiding other to the right path without any personal interest through twitter, comments and commendable write-ups!
So who has been your SEO angel in the year 2012, who helped you when you needed the most? I would love to hear from you and would request you all to write his/her name (maybe a twitter handle) on this thankyou wall if you want to thank them.
Great (and sweet) idea for a Discussion, Moosa. :-)
My nod goes to Pete Handley (@ismepete) and Kevin Ellen (@Kevin_Ellen_) for helping me out with some headaches I was having about hreflang when I met them at BrightonSEO.
Pete Handley (@ismepete) and I had a wonderful discussion on robots.txt and why Google crawl it in its search index a while ago... and all I can say as a conclusion of that discussion is that he is one hell of an amazing SEO brain (with a great sense of music) and nice human being in general.
Firstly i thank to @Inboundorg for the awesome resources of articles. People i want to thank are @randfish Sir, @AlanBleiweiss Sir, @gfiorelli1 Sir. Love the way they explain many things with the SEO industry. Learnt a lot not directly from them but indirectly through their post and comments.
I like that idea, too, Moosa!
I learnt a lot the whole year through - would be too many people to cite here. But I want to highlight out Mike @mblumenthal who helped me out personally - and I find that really great and appreciate that!!
Thanks for appreciating the idea Petra! Actually this way i guess the brains will feel better and community people will get to know few more people who are awesome in their own specific areas... Mike seems tough! :)
Moosa, I agree with all your points. 2012 was really a dramatic change for the people in SEO industry & like you, I also made few friends & done lots of mistakes but learned a lot from that mistakes. I want to thank all those people who wrote some good & awesome SEO post in their blog which helped a lot of people in the SEO industry who are newbie & who are pros.
For me there are some people who inspired me like @seohimanshu @onreact_com (Tad Chef) @seogemini (Charlotte Waller) & ofcourse you. Also, I started twitter discussion every monday related to eCommerce SEO tips with @danbarker & @JamesGurd which is awesome & I learned a lot from these guys. And also a lot of people on twitter, inbound.org & google+ who are there to solve each & every person's SEO problem.
There is alot of ups and downs in past year but most of the time @moosa you are the man who helped me alot. I do also agreed that in our SEO community people helping each other and every person him or herself a good human being :) I can proudly say now that i am a part of this community. In last i like to mention some names:
