This being at the top of inbound is so full of irony, I can barely stand it.
Thanks for your wise contribution to the discussion, Ian :)
Week + late to the party here, but I do what I can. I'm basically just curious how people can be on board with this (upvote it to the top) and then the same community stuffs inbound full of SEO content at a rate far above everything else... a symptom of what your post is pointing out. Seems odd.
A really sane and balanced approach to a sensitive topic from Gianluca, one of my favorite SEO writers.
"They talk with other SEOs, share only things done by other SEOs, clap their hands only to successful SEO’s case histories"
Yes... and that is absolutely normal. The same do the doctors or the engineers. What I am suggesting is to not limit the conversations just within the people of your same industry or discipline, because that end giving you a very distorted vision of the (marketing) world.
nothin like light grey txt on a white bg
Ah ah! I know it Patrick... the fact is that I decided to return writing on my own personal blog, and not just for Moz or State of Search, in the middle of my own vacations... I am completely conscious that the WordPress theme of my site sucks, but redesigning it from an iPad is not really an option :).
In the next weeks my blog will be more user friendly.
the title or the 404 it leads too...
I don't think this is true at all. I've always loved email campaigns. I measure social with metrics about the conversation, not the referrals. I've been that way for years, and Idon't think it's atypical
in the same first paragraph of the post I wrote that I was talking about "many SEOs", not all SEOs. Many is not a synonym of all :).
Said that, those are my impressions due to personal experience along the many years I am into this profession, and I am not pretending to be correct or to speak the Truth.
My intention was to offer something that was able to make SEOs reflect about themselves and, from what I saw, that objective has been obtained.
Just love the concept and it surely desvers a thumbs up :)
SEO is becoming crappier day by day
SEO is crappy ONLY if you think about Google SERP traffic... I ask you this "What would you do if Google (traffic) were gone tomorrow?" Think OUTSIDE the box or better yet, THINK like there is no box to speak of... ;-)
I was angered, for I had no good SEO. Then I met a man who had no computer.
