Nice to see Wiep publishing again!
I really like the 7th way that "Take some time off" :)
So I have permission to take some time off?
To be honest, I was a bit surprised about that as well, Ian. I haven't asked anyone to vote this up (or even shared the Inbound-URL), I'm not an active Inboud-user and, although Jason is an active user, only a few of his submissions have received this amount of votes. And while I really appreciate your kind words, I know that I'm not blessed with amazing writing skills, so that can't be it either. Most of the 'tips' are fueled by my own frustration about how some (many?) behave when they're trying to score a few links. I guess that others recognize these frustrations and see the post as confirmation of their own thoughts and experiences. Or it's just that people are happy to read a post about link building that doesn't include tips like 'create great content' or 'guest posting'. Perhaps. I'm not sure. But I do find it interesting, though, since the voting/ sharing/ liking/ linking behaviour of people is quite intriguing :)
#3 is brilliant. The risk with obsessing on something like DA is that you might go for a site with high-ish DA but low numbers of social media followers, when the opposite could work out to be more beneficial to your/your client's marketing/business (e.g. slightly lower DA but gets RTed a lot).
Definitely agree. Honesty (transparency) in building links is a must.
Whoa ! Wiep really is killing it there. Thanks for sharing the post Jason! :)
I know I'm going to get some hates for this, but really, is this a 59-vote article? It's well written, yes, but it's not exactly breaking new ground. Nor does it provide some new philosophical viewpoint. Or specific tips.
I don't want to diss someone's writing - like I said, it's beautifully written. I'm just not sure how it garnered 59 votes when Ann Cushing's entire AMA got, what, 120? Something's not right.
Ian inbound are testing at the moment with different upvote values for new and long term members so in reality it might only be 20-25 up votes based on the old scoring methods
