I knew someone who was trying to get in the space ethically a year ago... I took a look and said the space was very interesting, but I'd have no confidence whatsoever if white hat SEO worked. Being the only sane person in the room makes you insane. Any combination of black hat techniques would be like always pushing all-in in a casino. You might go on a lucky streak, but you'll lose everything in an instant.
Told him that PPC might work based on the hypothetical he gave me, but I'd suspect that competition is ridiculous and people in the space are probably playing a war of attrition. If it doesn't work, he should get out ASAP and find greener pastures as an affiliate. In a keyword space where spam and hacks are the norm, your "normal" backlinks look abnormal. Pay day loans isn't a place for those with a weak heart.
Finally a refreshing SEO article. Good work seoconsult!
Great work on discovering this. Although as one method in the loan industry is found 5 more seem to pop up.
I agree, this is something new and startling. Fantastic research. I assume most of the payday loan sites just get huge affiliate payouts and they are turn and burn sites. What's the average payout for a lead?
It depends on the volume you send them but generally between $30 - $75 per qualified lead. If you can send good amounts of volume you can negotiate higher payouts.
Thanks for the good feedback guys.
