The editor walks the craggy wasteland. Maybe she’s a freelance pen-for-hire. Maybe her red ink dances for one of the corporations. Doesn’t much matter. She is what she is. Then – In the distance, across a valley of charred manuscripts and killed-off characters she hears the plaintive cry of a writer lost in the woods, a writer with a soggy, boggy book falling apart in his hands.
