Brilliant find, Vinny - thanks for sharing! I'm in the middle of the disavow process for a client for the first time, so this is perfect timing for me personally.
I'm glad the DMOZ scraper issue was brought up, I've been wondering what to do about those. It'd be ridiculous to expect us to remove/disavow them seeing as a) they're automatically collected (not links anyone out there has actively sought) and b) they're originally from DMOZ...!
Oh, and as for this...
"[W]e have technical limits in Webmaster Tools of what we show there which is, I think, 1,000 links from 1,000 domains, something around that."
...Google has "technical limits?" One word: pfft! Sounds like an excuse to me...
Thanks Jim for being so persistent - a lot of top execs will give very short or yes/no answers and won't elaborate unless you push, which you did. I don't think its a non-transparency tactic, its just a personality trait that has been gained over years of being lawyer-ed up and such.
GWT really just never ceases to amaze me. The link limits, the limits on traffic data, and lots of other bugginess just kind of seems like they are either intentionally withholding features that won't "cost" them a lot or are being lazy.
Thanks so much again Jim.
