I really like the sit-down let's actually discuss this situation like rational adults feeling that was woven into the article.
One of the fairest, down to earth evaluations of the real world of link building for clients I've ever read.
Thanks guys for the kind feedback! The article was actually also a result of a "failed" link building project I had to evaluate where I achieved some amazing results but compared to the actual expectations it was a failure. I always try to learn from mistakes and here it was also my fault to believ that I can hurry things up to an unrealistic extent.
I think the personal brand concept is truly future-proof. It and it's extensible - I can't think of a vertical in which it *shouldn't* work.
One other asset you (and other SEO providers) have is knowledge of "how." That's' the hardest won piece of SEO execution in my opinion. It takes multiple wins and failures to understand what actually works and how those winning strategies fit into an overarching business picture. Most organizations can't metabolize learnings as quickly an an individual or small SEO team. SEO experts give these organizations an incredibly valuable jump start that would take an unknowable amount of time to achieve.
Solid post Tad.
