This depends on your business and targeted audience. You need to implement customized campaigns that best suits your business/target group.
These are some common tips to shoot effective ad campaigns:
For Facebook,
1) Use Facebook Power Editor
2) Use high quality images
3) Tag your ad URLs with proper format
4) Pick a wide or custom audience
5) Use Optimized CPM for payment: Let Facebook decide how much to pay for CPM dynamically.
6) Split up mobile and desktop campaigns: Try different campaigns for each.
7) Make use of segments: Age groups, Country etc.
8) Run ads on optimal time periods
9) Split test your ads, multiple versions
10) Drive traffic to optimized landing pages, put clear and catchy CTA in pages.
On reddit,
- you can target the audience in 3 segments: Based on interests, subreddit or location.
- CPM is the criteria (I do not know whether they support any other such as CPC)
- The CPM rates differ according to the segment : Interests, subreddit and location. So choose the target segment wisely.
- Your ad copy will be shown as sponsored ad and you can also upload images. Choose animated images to get more traction (I believe)
etc etc...and most important..calculate your ROI regularly. :P
I kinda hate Twitter advertising! I didnt have any fruitful experience with Twitter ads. They used to suggest higher bids but dnt get into the trap. You can always get lower bid price than the suggested.
*Let me say it very first THERE IS NO ISSUES WITH GOOGLE
HERE.
There are 3 urls highlighted in the pic . Am
able to see the 3rd url target 'Comparing SEOmoz, MajesticSEO & Ahrefs Link
Tools'
- The other two highlighted urls(the top 2
search results) are showing the error. One similarity found is that all the
inbound.org search results that shows this error has a 302 redirect
- The target page for 1st result (Facebook
Image text...) is www.inbound.org/tools/view/facebook-image-text-detection-tool-promoted-posts-20-rule
. Currently this url has a 302 redirect to www.inbound.org
- The target page for 2nd result (Free SEO
Tools...) is www.inbound.org/seo/2012/05/free-seo-social-tools-a-curated-list .
This url also has a 302 redirect to www.inbound.org
**First conclusion: The urls with response code 302 have the
issues.
Checked few other sites 302 pages in Google. URLs redirect
without any issues
>> Google is handling 302 redirects perfectly. So the
issue here is linked with inbound.org only.
Checked the issue url(http//www.inbound.org/tools/view/facebook-image-text-detection-tool-promoted-posts-20-rule)
in browser and found that it is redirecting to inbound.org
The issue urls are returning 302 server response code and
going to inbound.org when we access through browser
>> The issue we found in Google SERP - urls are
redirecting to Google
While entering the issue url directly in browser, it leads
to inbound.org
-So in both the cases the urls are redirecting to
source. That gives a push to check the url from any other source than Google
& inbound.org
>> Irrespective of the
server response 302 the links are redirecting to the source page. If you click
the urls from abc.com , you will be redirected to abc.com
>> So there is no URL
redirection done for 302. Though server response shows 302 for the issue urls,
there is no 302 redirect link for these urls.
Ok, giving 302 response code
without a target URL is not the end of world&but, from where the source url is
taken??
>> Checked all HTTP header
parameters&yeah, there we go -> Location.
***Location response-header field: For all the issue links that
Christy has highlighted, Location response-header field is fetching the source
URL. This is the reason why certain links in SERP are redirecting to Google.
>>FOR WHAT REASON? (Sigh!!!)
Here is how HTTP 1.1
defines the Location head
Location:
The Location response-header field is
used to redirect the recipient to a Location other than the Request-URI
for completion of the request or identification of a new resource.
Check any other sites 302 or 301 redirects,
you can find that the Location will be fetched as the respective domains
only. But here the location is the source from where the link is accessing. As
the definition says location response
header is used to redirect the recipient to a Location other than the
Request. So here even if there is 302 redirect link, the visitor will be
redirect to some other place because of the location response.
Now the question is,
Is that a mistake happened from inbound.org
in implementing redirects?? This issue will be there for all the urls that
inbound.org has implemented. Obviously there is no advantage/reason in
redirecting the visitor to source. We can assume that something gone out of the
way here.
Thanks for the informative hypothesis.! Interesting one..!
There is a minor mistake in the 23rd slide, at the end of the line - "same pages at result A" should be changed to "same pages at result B". Bit confused for a second :)
Things amazed me for a second, then realized, well, its Moz..
- '35,000 Hrs of WBF watched'..No doubt, White Board Fridays are Hit like nothing.. - 'Organic search traffic rose by 28% this year, even with the little hit that took during the transition from SEOmoz.org to Moz.com'..Guess what - perfect re-branding..!! - $ 385,859 spent on paid vacation for Mozzers : wish to be there... :) - 0 wireless connectivity issues : You people using internet or what ?
Bad SEo may actually hurt businesses more than good SEo can help them! That says it all!!

Welcome aboard Mary Green. Looking forward to your share on growing the community!
Very odd&but quite interesting to dig the reason.

See the action:
Status: 302 (302 redirection?? In inbound.org?? )
Location: http://web-sniffer.net/ (Holy ****)
Check any other sites 302 or 301 redirects, you can find that the Location will be fetched as the respective domains only. But here the location is the source from where the link is accessing.
