Steve pointed that out as well. I assumed that would be "agency" but I now understand the confusion. I didn't want to change mid-survey for obvious reasons. Lesson learned on my end.
I'm appreciative of everyone that has filled out the survey so far, and am looking forward to more responses in order to be statistically confident of the insights :)
I'll be sharing results when I have enough data. Thanks again!
And I ask this (there was supposed to be a question mark at the end of the first paragraph) because I believe there ARE successful examples of this, not because I'm trying to prove a point. I'm curious.
Right, I definitely get both sides. My question may have been too specific because what I was getting at was: What strategies have people seen in the real world where (with limited budget) this works out on a long time horizon.
I am all for creating great experiences and doing everything we can to avoid alienating any users, but sometimes I wish designers would take a business class or two.
Second - It's easy to say this with VC funds in the bank. At bootstrapped firms or startups, what is the best way to prioritize things like this in real dollars versus future benefit?
"For example, if you sell high powered flashlights, find another retailer that sells the specialized batteries that are needed to power the flashlights on a category or product level. Not only will these links be relevant, but these links will drive revenue."
Always the best types opportunity, obviously. I refuse to use the term that rhymes with "shmalationship building", because what this really is - is business partnership. I've seen this used to blow up eCommerce company revenues to 3 and 4 figure percent increases (and it's not talked about enough). Of course, the followed link is nice too.
Bravo Jon. We need more discussion around eCommerce link building.
Thanks Patrick! I agree with you, and I think a lot of it is because there aren't a ton of sites that do it well especially in niche markets. Please let me know if you see anything you'd improve on, or topics you'd like to see in the future. We specialize in custom web development, eCommerce solutions, business app integrations, and online marketing.
This is a new video series for us (we're 3 in). I'm looking for any and all feedback to help improve the series and queue up new topics. I've already gotten some amazing advice from some smart people like Doherty, Klettke, Snapp, etc., but I'm always looking for more. Thanks in advance!
Hey guys - noticed this yesterday, G showing number of +1's coming from around your location.
I assume they're testing this for other reasons than showing me how many people in Austin like Amazon. That info isn't very useful. Local businesses, however, might be a different story. Any theories on what the eventual intent here is?
This is an effective approach to goal setting, but it's neither new nor unique to growth hackers. Maybe I'm missing the point.
Thanks for posting Lauren!
Not sure. Can you link it?

I'll make sure to do that! Thanks for the suggestion Marc.
Thanks Vinny!
Thanks for sharing Nick!

How many links are you talking, and what type of domain authority are you working with?

For those that work 80-100+ hour weeks, this is really important. Good write up Mike.
Ahhh that's a good idea.
