The Totango study that they reference is skewed. The main point of concern is that they compared 3 things: cc up front, no cc up front, and best in class (no cc up front). What happened to best in class with cc up front? Having worked at Moz for a short while, I can attest that their cc up front funnel is among the best that I've seen.
I honestly don't see why everyone is bashing AT&T on this. They're not trying to promote any single product, service, goods, etc. Any company who does mobile could have posted this photo.
