@Mallikarjunan You're absolutely right, our experiments show that anticipating your order to arrive is where 73.4% of the fun is derived from... haha.... well, at least I know that I love waiting for my new pair of socks from sockscribe.me to come in the mail :)
Depends on budget, but here are some things that have worked well for us or other companies I've been involved with:
Hand written thank you notes. Tell them why you appreciate them in your own writing, and drop it in the mail as a surprise. You can also throw in some things like stickers or a discount code if you have one.
If your product is B2B, you could try featuring them on your website, blog or even just tweet them out. Intercom.io tweets out their new customers. A small gesture, but people like it.
T-shirts. These can be affordable to produce. Just don't make them super lame. If it wasn't your company, would you wear it? If so, send them a shirt or two as a surprise + a hand written note.
Gift cards. I don't know about you, but I always appreciate a Starbucks gift card + a short thank you note.
Make an "Insider's List" or a VIP group in the form of a mailing list. Let them know that they are special. Use a special email template. Send them occasional insider updates, like "we've been working on this feature for a few weeks. What do you think?".
