Super helpful comments Matthew, thanks very much. Great insight on the timing stuff too.
We're at a point where we have built up a lot of great content that is getting good levels of traffic, and we're considering the best way to convert this traffic to a free trial of our online invoicing platform.
We're currently displaying our bar a few seconds after scrolling down - waiting until we're pretty sure of engagement is something we'll try out soon. We've also considered doing that kind of "email address for valuable thing/report/PDF ", very interesting to hear some numbers you're getting on it.

What conversion rates are you getting from Hello Bar/Pop-up bars?

We're experimenting with pop up bars in the middle of content, and seem to be getting low click through rates. We're currently testing with 5 different variations of buttons with VWO - just wondering if anyone else has had success with this form of converting traffic?
