I'm looking for suggestions on the best text comparison algorithms. Ideally, someone will point me at some Python or PHP code which will compare two blocks of text and give some form of rating as to how similar they are. It should take into account what percentage of the words match, but also in what order the words and sentences are.
Great list, I've dabbled with IFTTT a couple of times over the years but never really spent the time making it something really powerful. I may well do now, and I'll be encouraging @ChrisPhilpot to do the same!
I'll probably end up linking them through to relevant articles on the blog at some point in the near future, but for the moment my time is going into developing some of the other internal tools. Thanks for looking out local!
There are some tooltips that come up when you hover over the (?) button next to metrics which don't pass the test I hope you saw that? If you didn't then I need to make it more obvious! If you did, then I obviously need to make those tips a bit better :)
Thanks as well for the heads up on the rogue URL at the bottom of the page it's a hangover from a very old test, so it's been there a long time. Oops! Removed now.
Let's make this more of a discussion for Inbound too, why not?!
I'm going to list the tests that my version of the Page Grader does, which include the structural elements of the Moz grader with a couple of additions.
Static URL
Minimal URL length
Standard characters in URL
Accessible to Search Engines
Single Title Tag
Optimal Title Length
Use Rel=Canonical
Only one Rel=Canonical
Rel=Canonical points to this page (because my tool should only be run for the original content)
Something that I've been using a fair bit lately is LinkRisk. I'm not associated with them in any way, but the tool gives a simple and visual representation of the links to your site, and will export a list of links to disavow as well. However, disavow-ing should definitely be further down the list that asking for those links to be removed manually.
Happy to bounce some ideas around if you want - I do a new video each Friday as 'fifty6ltd' on Youtube as well in case you want to check out the style.
Personally I'd just pay the $180 (or buy another phone, but that's another point) and continue to value my time and services as they are. Skill swaps can be fantastic, but I don't feel that they work as well when one service is more tangible than the other.
Lame, blah blah blah. Another tool, blah blah blah. "Jason's not sharing that again, is he?", blah blah blah.
I built a Page Grader. People liked it. You might too.

Anyone using anything that might be useful?
I'd be worried if anyone found them all funny, mainly because then we'd have to hear more of them in the office from Chris!
Good quality insight. I like the focus on framing there as well, it's often missed out in blogs on the subject of CRO I find.
None too bad, this :)
Hi Joe, thanks for the comments much appreciated!

Do you think I've missed any? Let me know...
Properly terrible, but good for their awfulness. I can't take any credit for them, all @ChrisPhilpot's handiwork!

Thanks for the share of this Kushal I hadn't noticed until now. Glad you enjoyed this enough to put it on Inbound!
Cheers for these - I'd heard of the top 2 but not any others so I'll definitely check them out.
All of them?
Ah trademarks. I've had some fun with the fifty6 one lately. I hope all parties come out of this as happy as all parties in my dispute did.

I'd love to get some feedback on this article, if anyone would be so kind?
