inbound.org/in/Siddharth87" target="_blank">@Siddharth87 I appreciate the time you put into this review and your thoughts. I love the idea of the limited time promo/discount. I'm thinking we may implement this via email with a triggered email campaign, but make it time sensitive. We are also thinking about adding a "14 people viewing this property" type soft-pressure line on the page somewhere to add pressure.
Quick question, when you say a landing page for each lodge are you meaning something like this? smokymountains.com/cabin-rentals/scenic-solitude/ I'm afraid if we trim the navigation down to much we will lose prospective buyers. People like to view quite a few places before they book. I agree we could trim it down some though.
inbound.org/in/JoelKlettke" target="_blank">@JoelKlettke This feedback is spot on! We clearly have to restructure our pitch to include our USP. I now can see that we offer a lot of things that the listing sites simply cannot (i.e. we are local and have extensive area knowledge), but do not convey that well. The social proof comment is also great - we may implement traveler photos and reviews based on this.
In terms of conversions, we are counting a conversion as someone booking the property. We should probably start tracking mini-conversions on the way to the ultimate sale though. Also, you are correct in assuming that we aren't doing a good job with last-click attribution.
inbound.org/in/richpage" target="_blank">@richpage Thanks a ton for creating the video and giving me your thoughts on this page. Similar to many people, we get a bit blind to the problems with our site. :)
We really like the feedback concerning and have a few thoughts on it:
Social proof - we are going to implement reviews and view this as excellent and high-priority
USP (Unique Selling Proposition) - we definitely have to improve this. To a guest, we just look like a listing site. I never realized this and this is great insight.
Responsive - we are planning to go fully responsive in the next several months. However we were planning a refresh of the site at the same time. Do you think that is a mistake to delay by 3-4 months and do a bigger overhaul at the same time or should this be a top priority in the short term?
Love the various design and search functionality feedback.
One quick question - While we like the idea of adding a map, some of the properties are further out. We are afraid by adding the map, people will only look at the downtown/close-in properties and ignore the higher quality properties that are further out. What would you think about not adding the map on the cabin rentals overview page, but then adding it on the individual pages?
Thanks Will. I appreciate the answer and you taking time to give back so much to the SEO community. I'm looking forward to hearing you speak at mozCon.
I am about to launch a brand new site with a ton of very high-quality content in the travel niche. What should the first couple of months look like from a link-building perspective to increase the likelihood of success long-term? Thanks.
