I couldn't hide from all the chatter around the white paper about eBay's paid search campaigns today. All kinds of people with little knowledge on internal optimization within eBay are jumping on this story to give their perspective. That said, I think all of these authors are guilty of making broad generalizations. Very little has been made of the actual research itself, which applied to a single company and a unique set of variables.
The bigger lesson is Always Be Testing, don't buy into the hype of absolutes, and question everything. :)
