Loved this article. I get scared when so many folks across the web try to defend link profiles that clearly are not 100% editorial. It's OK to admit that you went gray/black hat. In fact, admitting it will probably make it a lot easier to move on to the net phase: cleaning it up and getting on with solid marketing.
The comments I've gotten are pretty interesting. Yes, the drive to justify is really, really strong. But the point is Google is NOT JUDGING YOU either way. Just get rid of the links and move on.
